With over 20 years of experience handling complex litigation, Gary Carter Jr. leads Carter Firm with the knowledge and leadership that have earned him recognition in both the legal and public sectors.

Gary’s legal career spans more than two decades, with significant experience in high-stakes commercial litigation and trial work. His expertise includes five years as a products liability associate at a major New Orleans law firm, eight years as in-house senior counsel for a Fortune 250 Corporation, as a trial lawyer, and serving as a partner at a prominent US energy firm.

In addition to his legal practice, Gary is a Member of the Louisiana State Senate, representing District 7, serving the Westbank of Orleans and Jefferson Parishes, and the Eastbank of Plaquemines Parish. He also served in the Louisiana House of Representatives, where he represented District 102, encompassing the Westbank of Orleans Parish.

Gary currently serves as the Vice Chairman of the Senate Transportation, Highways and Public Works Committee. Throughout his political career, Gary has held leadership roles such as Vice Chairman of the Appropriations Committee and Chairman of the Subcommittee on Minority, Female, and Veteran-Owned Enterprises. His unique blend of legal and legislative experience gives the firm a distinct advantage when representing clients in complex legal matters.

Gary holds a bachelor’s degree in political science from Xavier University and earned his law degree from Tulane Law School.

Sierra Ambrose

Associate Attorney and
Closing Attorney for Standard Title New Orleans

Sierra Ambrose joined Carter Firm as an Associate Attorney in 2023, bringing with her a breadth of experience in commercial and casualty litigation. A Louisiana native, Sierra is dedicated to serving her community by representing both businesses and individuals in complex civil matters. 

Sierra earned her Juris Doctor from Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, where she was actively involved in trial advocacy and moot court. During her time at Loyola, she honed her litigation skills and won the Fall 2020 Trial Advocacy Competition. Before law school, she earned a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Loyola University New Orleans, where she was also deeply involved in student leadership, serving as Student Government President-elect.

Prior to joining Carter Firm, Sierra worked as a Law Clerk for the Honorable Sidney H. Cates, IV at Orleans Civil District Court, where she gained experience in a wide range of legal areas, including personal injury, asbestos litigation, and contractual disputes. She has also held internships with Southeast Louisiana Legal Services, the ACLU of Louisiana, and other legal organizations, where she worked on civil rights and policy issues.

Sierra is admitted to practice in the State Bar of Louisiana, the Eastern, Western, and Middle Districts of Louisiana, and the United States Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. She is also an active member of several legal organizations, including the Louisiana State Bar Association, the Federal Bar Association, and the Louis A. Martinet Legal Society.
